6/14/1984 Larry Pleau is named Head coach and GM of Binghampton Whalers, replacing John Cunniff who is retained as a scout. 
2/7/1988 Larry Pleau is named head coach replacing Jack Evans (who remains as special assistant to the GM). Doug Jarvis assumes the head coaching position in Binghampton. 
2/15/1989 Larry Pleau coaches his 200th NHL game vs Toronto. 
5/16/1989 Larry Pleau is fired as head coach. 
8/14/1989 Larry Pleau is released from his Whalers contract and would be named assistant GM in New York the next day.
